Most common questions
The trips
Who are the trips for?
Anyone who wants a real adventure, organized for them, with a small group of like-minded people. It's not a backpacker trip.
Can I come on my own?
Yes, and we'd love that. Coming on your own is the best way to meet new people. The group is small, so by the first dinner you'll know everyone, and Lena and Parker are with you the whole way.
How big is the group?
Small on purpose: big enough to meet new people, small enough to feel like friends by day two. Lena and Parker travel with you the whole way.
Where will I sleep?
In shared twin rooms with someone from the group (two-person tents at the desert camp). In Oman that means a guesthouse in Muscat, a guesthouse on the turtle coast, a private desert camp and a hotel in Nizwa. Single rooms on request.
How fit do I need to be?
If you can walk for a few hours and swim a little, you're fine.
Oman, 10 to 17 January 2027
What's the weather like in January?
January is the best month to visit: around 25°C on the coast and pleasant inland. Nights in the desert and up in the mountains are cold, so bring a warm layer.
Do I need a visa?
Many passports can enter Oman visa-free for up to 14 days, but it depends on your nationality. Check the rules for your passport before you book your flights.
Do I need to swim?
A little. Wadi Shab is a 45-minute walk over rocks and some swimming through the canyon pools, and the Daymaniyat Islands day is a snorkelling day. Bring water shoes.
What's included, and what isn't?
Included: 7 nights' accommodation, breakfast every day and dinner every evening, a beach BBQ lunch on the islands, two 4x4s with fuel and airport transfers, a licensed English-speaking Omani guide, the Daymaniyat Islands boat day, entrance fees, drinks on the road, and your two hosts. Not included: flights, travel insurance (strongly recommended), a visa if your passport needs one, other lunches, optional extras like a camel ride, and tips.
Which airport do I fly into?
Muscat. We pick you up at the airport on 10 January and drop you back on 17 January.
Booking
How do I book?
Join the waitlist. When deposits open we'll send you the full details, and a deposit ($500 for Oman) holds your place.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend it. Pick one that covers cancellation, medical emergencies and the activities on the trip, like snorkelling and the desert.
What if I need to cancel?
The short version: your deposit holds your place and is non-refundable, and the rest is refundable until six weeks before departure. The full details are on our payments and refunds page.
